The Historical Society of Stillwater Township in association with The Sussex County Library System’s Local History and Genealogy Department present a ground-breaking series of lectures.
Award-winning journalist David Pierce has written extensively on the legacy of the ill-fated dam. He has interviewed people who lost their homes and businesses, squatters who illegally occupied the abandoned homes and the courageous people who led the fight against a giant bureaucracy. Pierce’s work has been honored by several press associations and he has been designated a fellow of the Knight Center for Specialized Journalism and received the G. Richard Dew Award for Journalistic Service.
On Thursday, June 8th at 7:00pm, Pierce will speak on Tocks Island: Dammed If you Do – The Homegrown Movement that Defeated the Delaware River Dam. The lecture will be held at the Sussex County Library’s Main Branch, 126 Morris Turnpike, Newton NJ.
